Liceo U Signs Memorandum of Agreement for Adopt-A-Mountain Program

   Pursuant to its goal to conduct more meaningful community extension activities, the Liceo de Cagayan University launched its new project, the Adopt-a-Mountain Program. Last February 24, 2017, the Liceo de Cagayan University represented by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension and Liceo Center for Community Development and the Department of Natural Resources 10 – CENRO, Initao signed a memorandum of agreement for the Adopt-a-Mountain Program in Malasag, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. This activity was participated by Dr. Lesley C. Lubos, Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension, Dr. Felsa A. Labis, Director of Liceo Center for Community Development, Mr. Lorenzo G. Closas Jr., University Sports and Athletics Coordinator, Mr. Salm Kairo C. Dumanlag, Liceo Community Organizer and officials from the Department of Natural Resources 10 – CENRO Initao, Mr. Aldrich S. Resma, OIC PENR, Mr. Morito B. Estifano, DMO, Mr. Buenaventura P. Labininay, MRP-Project-In-Charge, and Ms. Myrna E. Neri, CENR Officer.

 

   The Adopt-a-Mountain Program is pursuant to DENR Administrative Order No. 98-62 dated October 1, 1998. This program aims to develop/grow a tree and manage a one hectare area within Malasag Reforestation Project in support of the government’s efforts in the sustainable management of the country’s forest lands. The program will last for five (5) years renewable for another three (3) years.  Liceo de Cagayan University is the first school to implement the Adopt-a-Mountain Program in the Region. The agreement was made possible through the initiative of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension and the Liceo Center for Community Development.
