Liceo U holds Rodelsa Lecture Series 11

   The Offices of the Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension and the Vice President for Academic affairs held the Rodelsa Lecture Series 11 on February 22, 2017 at the University Audio Visual Room 1 as one of the highlights of the celebration of the 62nd Founding Anniversary of Liceo de Cagayan University,

 

   The lecture series opened with an invocation by Mr. Marvin O. Gayramon, faculty member of the Conservatory of Music. The Conservatory of Music Choir led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and Liceo Hymn. The University President, Dr. Mariano M. Lerin welcomed all the participants and Dr. Ma. Florecilla C. Cinches, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered a lecture on Exploring the Philosophy of Research.

   Dr. Rosella O. Ortiz, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, presented the study on “Teacher Effectiveness: A Function of Teacher Performance” which she co-authored with Mr. Ramon G. Abrera, Jr. The Dean of the College of Engineering, Engr. Ian Kit Nehemiah M. Dap-og presented the study on the “Correlational Study on the Energy Performance of School Buildings” which he co-authored with Dr. Alice Comahig. The study on “Financial Literacy of Senior College Students of Liceo de Cagayan University” was presented by Ms. Grace Santos, faculty of the College of Business Accountancy. Her co-authors were Ms. Rosalita M. Arrabis, and Mr. Taga N. Tiu, Jr. Lastly, the findings of the study “Water Quality Assessment of Cagayan de Oro River: Basis for Intervention” were discussed by Dr. Judy Marie R. Zoleta. She co-authored the study with Mr. Abundol Nawang.

 

   Dr. Oliva P. Canencia, the Director of Research and Development Division of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines and Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez, Education Supervisor II of CHED Regional Office 10 served as reactors. They provided valuable insights on how to utilize the findings and recommendations of the studies in the institution and in the communities along the Cagayan de Oro City River.

 

   In his closing remarks, Dr. Lesley Casas Lubos, the Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension highlighted the importance of collaboration in research and the continuous search for new knowledge. Dr. Lubos also emphasized that getting involved in multidisciplinary research is like traversing a road with a squad of experts in their respective fields, each of whom knows the best way to get to the destination.

 

   The Rodelsa Lecture Series is an annual event that aims to showcase and disseminate the findings of the researches conducted by the faculty and staff of the University. Mr. Harry R. Marte, Jr., the Executive Assistant of Human Resource and Development Office served as the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s event.
