Liceo University conducts Orientation for Research Coordinators,
Research Advisers, and Research Instructors

   Liceo de Cagayan University through the offices of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension conducted an orientation for all the Research Coordinators, Instructors, and Advisers of the University on December 3, 2016 at the AVR 3 from 8:30-11:30 in the morning. In his message, Dr. Lesley Casas Lubos, VPRPE, presented the challenges when it comes to research endeavors in the University and called for the cooperation of all the participants. He inspired them to be globally competitive by continually doing research in their field of specialization and to have their research published in reputable journals so that their studies can be cited by other authors which will increase their citation count and H-index. He also presented the updates in research journal accreditation and informed the participants that among the 777 journals in the Philippines, only 28 are ISI journals including the Asian Journal of Biodiversity, an international journal published by the University. Furthermore, he encouraged them to be exposed to the community. Dr. Ma. Florecilla C. Cinches, VPAA, discussed the logic behind mentoring and on how to become an effective research mentor. She also shared insights on how to rate the research contribution of the students in their research groups. To ensure that the participants are well aware of their specific functions, Ms. Maria Elena C. Reyes, RPO Assoc. Director, presented the specific duties and responsibilities of the Research Coordinator, Research Instructor, and Research Adviser.  Dr. Judy Marie Zoleta, Chairperson of the Department of Natural Sciences, served as the emcee of the program. The activity was part of the University’s research capability program for the faculty to become effective research mentors.
