LICEO U HOSTS NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION
AT GAWAD KALINGA COMMUNITY

   Liceo de Cagayan University’s Medical Allied Courses and the School of Graduate Studies in collaboration with the Liceo Center of Community Development (under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Publication, and Extension) celebrated this year’s Nutrition Month by conducting a Health Teaching on July 27, 2016, at Gawad Kalinga Community, Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City.

   Mrs. Nita Semprun (College of Nursing Faculty/Nutritionist) addressed the importance of proper infant and young child feeding. Ms. Chelsea Ursula S. Atienza, a College of Nursing student, discussed the Department of Health Kumainments. Mrs. Emma Dejarme, the College of Nursing Research and Community Extension Coordinator, lectured on the first 1000 days of life which roughly covers a child’s first three years.

  This year’s theme is “First 1000 Days ni Baby Pahalagahan para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan”. According to the National Nutrition Council (NNC), the first 1000 days has been called the “golden window of opportunity for a comprehensive package of nutrition and related interventions to achieve significant changes in reduction in child stunting, underweight, and wasting, at the same time contribute to complete child development, “
