The Offices of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Research and Publication, in cooperation with the college research coordinators, organized the 3rd Intercollegiate Research Contest last March 21, 2016 at Liceo de Cagayan University Main Campus from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. where the best college student researchers of the University competed against each other for the Best Oral Research Presentation and Best Poster Exhibit. The competition aimed at strengthening the University’s effort to engage students in quality research, thus sustaining her mission to foster a culture of research excellence. Participants were from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Accountancy, Education, Engineering, Information Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Radiologic Technology, and Rehabilitation Sciences.

 

   The participants and the distinguished panel of judges were warmly welcomed by Dr. Donna Lou E. Neri, Associate Director for Research and Publication, during the Opening Ceremony. They eagerly waited for the contest to begin and became excited as they listened to the inspiring message of the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ma. Florecilla C. Cinches.

 

   The Panel of judges was composed of highly esteemed research experts from both private and government institutions, namely Ms. Karen Kaye D. Alcesto, (Health Program Researcher of DOH-Region10), Mr. Ramir M. Balquin (Economic Development Specialist of NEDA Region 10), Mr. Arian M. Edullantes (College of Information Technology Faculty of PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College), Dr. Fernando V. Magdato Jr. (Extension Head of the University of Southeastern Philippines), Dr. Ray Butch D. Mahinay (Program Coordinator of Tablon National High School), Prof. Neil M. Martin (College of Nursing Research Coordinator of MSU-IIT), Dr. Joy M. Mirasol (Vice President for Research and Extension of Bukidnon State University), Dr. Polinar T. Paulican (Research and Extension Director of Mountain View College), and Dr. Josephine M. Rey (from Ipswich Hospital NHS Trusa, United Kingdom).

 

   Dr. Ma. Florecilla C. Cinches who was assisted by Dr. Lesley C. Lubos, Director for Research and Publication, and Dr. Donna Lou E. Neri, gave the medals to the winners during the Closing Ceremony. Dr. Lesley C. Lubos gave the closing remarks by encouraging the participants to continue honing their research skills. The host of the activity was Mr. Harry R. Marte Jr., the Executive Assistant of the Human Resource Management and Development Office.
