Dr. Lesley Casas Lubos, VP-RPE, together  with  Ms. Quennie O. Cabaluna of the College of Pharmacy represented Region X in the 11th  Philippine National Health Research System Week Contest on August 24-25, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. Dr. Lubos was awarded as National Finalist under the Professional Poster Category for his collaborative study on Potability of Water Supply Using Conventional and PML Methods to Select Salintubig Projects in Region 10. The members of the research team were Jeffrey D. Elogsong (DOH), Judy Marie R. Zoleta (LDCU), Julieta Helen S. Parel (DOH), Ma. Carmela A. Roa (DOH), Sergio Ramon R. Bautista (DOH), and Dr. David A. Mendoza (DOH). Moreover, Ms. Cabaluna was also awarded as National Finalist in the Student Poster Category for the study on Phytochemical Screening and Formulation of an Elixir for the Antihyperlipidemic Activity of the Ethanolic Extract of Ganoderma lucidum (Karst.) she conducted with Sheena Kris Loise B. Bermiso, Mariel Anngilie P. Campoamor, and Quinnie Velle Taculod. The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Mercedita S. Aquino, also attended the 11th PNHRS as the Research Adviser of Ms. Cabaluna.

            The PNHRS is an integrated national framework for health research in the country. The theme for this year’s celebration was Research and Innovations in Health: Empowering and Transforming Communities.  Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, the Executive Director of Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) welcomed all the participants from the different regions of the country. Liceo de Cagayan University has been representing Region X and Liceo de Cagayan University in the PNHRS Week Celebration for three consecutive years already.
